Bingham Alumni

New Life for an Old Friend

By the mid-2010s, Bingham High School, our beloved alma mater (a latin phrase meaning "nourishing mother"), was starting to show her age. Built in 1976, she was now 40 years old. Pipes were leaking all over the school and the water was coming out brown. Teachers would often show up in the morning, only to find that a new leak had sprung overnight in the ceiling of their classroom.

As the Jordan Board of Education contemplated what to do, they concluded they had two options: Tear the building down and build a completely new school, or remodel the current building. A thourough examination relealed that the shell of the school was in great condition. The Board decided that a remodel was the best option. They committed $40 million over the next 6 summers.

Phase 1: Summer 2019

A "pipe-breaking" ceremony in May of 2019 kicked off phase one, which focused on the performing arts section of the school.
